In our life, CPE and PVC are more and more widely used. Chlorinated polyethylene is a saturated polymer material with a white powder appearance, non-toxic and tasteless, and has excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, chemical resistance and aging resistance. Performance, with good oil resistance, flame retardancy and coloring properties. Good toughness (still flexible at -30°C), good compatibility with other polymer materials, and high decomposition temperature. Chlorinated polyethylene is a polymer material made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) through a chlorination substitution reaction. According to different structures and uses, chlorinated polyethylene can be divided into two categories: resin-type chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) and elastomer-type chlorinated polyethylene (CM). In addition to being used alone, thermoplastic resins can also be blended with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), ABS and even polyurethane (PU). In the rubber industry, CPE can be used as a high-performance, high-quality special rubber, and can also be used with ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR), butyl rubber (IIR), nitrile rubber (NBR), chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM), etc. Other rubber blends are used.
In the 1960s, the German Hoechst company first successfully developed and realized industrial production. my country began to develop chlorinated polyethylene in the late 1970s. The "Aqueous Phase Suspension Synthesis of CPE Technology" was first successfully developed by the Anhui Chemical Industry Research Institute, and production devices of 500-1000t/a with different scales have been built in Wuhu, Anhui, Taicang, Jiangsu, and Weifang, Shandong.
The oil resistance of CPE is average, among which the resistance to ASTM No. 1 oil and ASTM No. 2 oil is excellent, which is equivalent to NBR; the resistance to ASTM No. 3 oil is excellent, better than CR, which is equivalent to CSM.
CPE contains chlorine, which has excellent flame retardant properties and has the characteristics of burning and anti-dripping. It can be combined with antimony-based flame retardant, chlorinated paraffin, and Al(OH)3 in an appropriate ratio to obtain a flame-retardant material with excellent flame-retardant performance and low cost.
CPE is non-toxic, does not contain heavy metals and PAHS, and fully meets environmental protection requirements.
CPE has high filling performance and can be made into products meeting various performance requirements. CPE has good processability, Mooney viscosity (ML121 1+4) is between 50-100, and there are many grades to choose from.
